The checkout-day test
The hardest version of this plan is not an ordinary day trip. It is checking out, taking a full day in Minho and then continuing to an airport, another train or a different hotel. Bags turn a simple return journey into a chain of handoffs.
The strongest plan is to leave luggage with a hotel that explicitly confirms storage, make the day trip, return for the bags and continue. Condes de Azevedo’s FAQ specifically confirms storage before check-in and after check-out. Hotel Dom Henrique lists luggage storage among its services. Confirm the hours and collection deadline directly for the intended date, especially when the onward journey is late.
This guide does not rely on São Bento lockers or a scored walking route. Neither is needed to make the accommodation decision, and neither should be promised without current, route-level evidence. Hotel-held luggage keeps responsibility with the property whose terms can be checked before booking.
