1. Role as an Independent Research Guide (Not a Seller or Agent)
Folio publishes independent travel intelligence, urban neighbourhood analyses, and curated accommodation dossiers. Folio is not a travel agency, tour operator, or booking agent. Folio does not sell hotel rooms, take payments, issue booking vouchers, or process cancellations.
When you click a booking link to an accommodation provider or online travel agency (such as Booking.com or official hotel websites), you leave Folio. Your reservation, payment processing, cancellation policy, room allocation, and customer service remain exclusively subject to that third-party provider's contractual terms and conditions.
2. Topography, Transit & Walking Route Estimates
Folio calculates walking times, route distances, and elevation profiles using pedestrian network data from OpenStreetMap and digital elevation models. These estimates are designed to reflect real on-the-ground pedestrian conditions.
However, actual walking conditions may vary based on weather, construction, temporary street closures, municipal works, individual fitness, and luggage weight. You remain solely responsible for assessing personal safety, mobility requirements, and vehicle clearance before traveling.
3. Commercial Disclosure & Editorial Independence
Folio participates in affiliate marketing programs. Qualifying clicks or bookings completed through third-party links may generate a commission for Folio at zero additional cost to you.

4. Open Data, Intellectual Property & Licensing
All proprietary editorial synthesis, original writing, comparative analyses, proprietary code, and branding on Folio are protected by international copyright laws and belong exclusively to the operator.
- OpenStreetMap: Map tiles and pedestrian routing data are © OpenStreetMap contributors, made available under the Open Database License (ODbL).
- Property Photography: Hotel imagery is sourced from official press kits, licensed creative commons depositories with explicit author attribution, or proprietary photography.
- Prohibited Scraping: Automated scraping, data extraction, or programmatic re-syndication of Folio's dossiers, algorithms, or curated editorial text without prior written authorization is strictly prohibited.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Folio and its operator disclaim all liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss resulting from:
- Inaccuracies in hotel room dimensions, amenities, or pricing provided by third parties.
- Disruptions, strikes, or timetable changes in municipal transit, elevators, or funicular systems.
- Disputes between travelers and third-party booking providers or hotel operators.
- Temporary service interruptions or technical downtime.
6. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to any mandatory statutory consumer protections provided by your local jurisdiction.
