The majestic San Sebastián City Hall in Spain's Basque Country captured under clear blue skies.Arrival airport | City-bound connection | Fare (€) | Travel time (mins) |

After landing at San Sebastián Airport (EAS) | Ekialdebus lists line BI01 to Donostia bus station from 1 October 2026. Official tourism also lists E21 all year and E30 in summer, but note E21 suppresses airport stops from 1 June. | 21 mins in the timetable (07:30–07:51 example) | |
After landing at Bilbao Airport | Aena lists the Pesa Lurraldebus DO04 connection between Donostia, Zarautz and Bilbao Airport. | €17.10 | Approximately 75 |
After landing at Biarritz Airport (BIQ) | Alsa operates direct coaches to San Sebastián. Missed buses after departure lose travel rights without refunds; tickets from 21:00 must be purchased on the bus. | €10 advertised for 6 Oct 2026; check your date | 45 mins in the operator listing |
From 1 October 2026, Ekialdebus lists BI01 between San Sebastián Airport in Hondarribia and Donostia bus station. Check the dated operator timetable for your travel day. On October working days, Monday to Saturday, buses leave airport stop A from 7:30, with the last departure at 21:45 reaching Donostia bus station at 22:06. There are gaps: the next departure after 11:30 is 13:45. Sundays and public holidays have a separate timetable. Pick a departure that gives you time to leave the terminal with your bags; if none fits, arrange another transfer.
Landing at Bilbao Airport? Look for the Pesa Lurraldebus connection to Donostia/San Sebastián. The Bizkaibus service listed by Aena goes to Bilbao Termibus instead. A ticket labelled “Bilbao–San Sebastián” may also start in the city, so make sure the departure point is the airport and the destination is Donostia/San Sebastián. The airport-specific operator search is the place to start when comparing departures.
The Pesa Lurraldebus fare from Bilbao Airport to San Sebastián is listed at €17.10, and the journey takes approximately 75 minutes. The winter timetable shows hourly departures from 07:45 to 23:45 on working days, or 06:45 to 23:45 on weekends and public holidays. Use the operator booking to see which departures fit your travel date.
Alsa provides services between Biarritz Airport and San Sebastián. Its airport-route conditions explain what happens if you miss your booked coach: once it has departed, the ticket no longer gives you the right to travel, and there is no refund. Leave room between landing and departure for collecting bags and reaching the stop. If a delay would leave you without a workable connection, read those conditions before buying. Keep the airport departure point and city arrival point with your ticket so you can plan the last leg to your accommodation.
Your flight arrival time is only the start of the transfer. Plan from when you expect to be outside the terminal with your bags, then allow time to reach the stop, board and travel into town. There is still the journey from the city stop to your accommodation. If that leaves a tight connection, choose a later departure or get a transfer quote before travelling.
Arriving before your room is ready? San Sebastián bus station has a left-luggage facility, while LOCK & enjoy! offers an Old Town option. Leaving bags at the station may save you carrying them on a sightseeing detour. If you would rather spend the wait in the Old Town, compare that option with where you are staying. Think about where you will collect the bags, too: the convenient drop-off may not suit the rest of your day.
Pack the items you may need while your main bag is stored into a smaller bag before you arrive.
If you change buses, tell your accommodation about the new arrival window. If you change accommodation, revisit the city arrival point and last leg. With a group, share the tickets, address and key instructions, and agree where to meet if you get separated. The arrangements need to fit your own booking.
If your ticket brings you to Donostia bus station, use the official station floor plan before you leave the coach area with your bags. The coach station is on level 0; the plan marks lifts, left-luggage facilities, ALSA/PESA ticket machines and a Mugi top-up machine. Prefer to avoid stairs or escalators? Find the lift on the plan first.

For the last journey from Donostia Geltokia, the official tourism accessibility guide lists nearby stops for Dbus routes 45, 24, 17 and 37. Match the current Dbus route map and timetable to your accommodation address, including the direction and any stop changes. A stop near the station does not mean every one of these routes will take you to your hotel.
Donostia Geltokia is the city bus station, connected to the Adif-Renfe train station. Start with the arrival point printed on your ticket: airport services do not necessarily leave you at the same place. Save your accommodation’s exact entrance and decide how you will get there—on foot, by local transport or by taxi. If you plan to walk, choose a route that suits your bags and everyone’s mobility needs.
A neighbourhood name helps you get your bearings, but it will not tell you how long the last leg takes. Look at the route to the actual entrance. Steps or slopes may make another onward option more comfortable with luggage. If the entrance is hard to spot, ask your accommodation where a driver should drop you. An approximate map distance is not a walking time, and a street address does not confirm vehicle access.
If you are still planning the rest of your stay, use our San Sebastián destination guide to compare areas, and our San Sebastián parking guide for any onward plans involving a car.
Need help boarding or handling bags? Speak to the operator before choosing a service, and describe what you need: a wheelchair, a folded mobility aid, help with steps or a heavy bag. Find out whether advance notice or a reservation is needed, where to wait and how to reach staff at the departure point. Keep their answer with your ticket; a general accessibility description may not cover your circumstances.
For bulky luggage, a pushchair or sports equipment, check the baggage conditions for the exact service you intend to board. Confirm how the item should be packed and whether it affects your booking.
San Sebastián Airport has a permanent taxi rank. At Biarritz Airport, taxis and private-hire vehicles are available outside the terminal, next to the arrivals hall.
If the bus timings do not work for you, get a transfer quote to your exact accommodation address before travelling. Agree the pickup point, luggage space, any child seats and the plan for a flight delay. From Biarritz, make sure the quote covers the cross-border journey to San Sebastián. Vehicles being available at the airport does not confirm that complete trip.
For a late flight, work back from the listed last airport departure at 23:45. Compare it with the time you expect to be outside the terminal with your bags, rather than the aircraft landing time. If the connection leaves no workable margin, arrange another transfer before travelling and tell your accommodation how you will collect the keys. Check the arrival stop on your booked ticket before planning the last journey; read the payment and change conditions for your exact Pesa departure.
LOCK & enjoy! offers online booking and sends an access code by email. During the reservation, its Old Town lockers can be opened and closed repeatedly. That can matter if you want to retrieve a jacket or repack before collecting everything. Before paying, check the locker size against your actual bags and choose a booking period that covers when you expect to return. Save the confirmation and access details somewhere you can retrieve them easily.
The Mugi machine is a place to top up the card; its presence does not establish which airport service accepts it. Check your operator’s payment conditions separately. For a return coach, use the ticket machines and station information to find your departure information rather than treating the platform in the photograph as your assigned boarding point.
